Local staff (shop girls, captain, boat boy) are hired on the spot, however we are working with same boat boy and captain last 2 seasons, very good with customers and trustworthy. Normally we also hired a European shop girl in order to communicate better with our customers.
Last seasons we employed a couple of freelance instructors, we try to work with same ones if possible. Some of the teaching we tried to do ourselves, but especially in busy season this is not possible.
Pool: we have a deal with Garden Home resort, beautiful infity pool, and excellent service. Also great (20 mtr from sea) to let your students after confined sessions get a taste of the real thing. This pool was sought after by the other dive centres, but the hotel only wanted to work with us. Especially in Thailand it is important to have good relations with the resorts, hotels, all local people actually.
The shop is closed in low season, this is for us between April and October. That
means we close everything down, the boat goes in dry-
This dive centre is at the moment typically ' in between ' small and big. Due to
our location, boat and state of equipment ready to grow bigger (revenue, nr. of customers)
. In order to achieve this, the new owner has only to put effort in marketing and
customer relations, all other investments are done last season (new boat, new engines,
tuk-
This brings us immediately to the reason to sell.
The dive centre is operationally run by 2 partners (Mark and Matt) and there is 1 silent partner with minor stock. Both Mark and Matt are also busy in other areas of business (consultancy & engineering) and this is quite difficult to manage both together with operational running the dive center. e see it grow, we see that our ideas are successful, and now we had to choose between the dive center and our other businesses. Very hard choice indeed, and we hope to find somebody who can actually make this dive center the success it deserves (and which is very much possible).
Including in the deal is that we will help the new owner(s) if required the first
period, especially when the owner is not yet familiar with Thai rules and way of
working ;-

The last 2 years a lot of new resorts have been set up, and the 'bigger' resort companies are looking at Lanta. .
